no where does it mention that noah traveled around the world in his big boat.
in fact, is says that the ark was floating "high above the earth".
also, what does matthew mean about "just like in the days of noah?

How many of us were aware that the bylaws require that each cong. hold" General Annual Meetings" for the election of officers, their names and titles and the annual statement is signed by a duly authorized officer thereof. Here is the enigma :Are persons who are "appointed", by an outside corporation into positions of administration within the Cong. and call themselves ELDERS ,committing a crime by posing themselves off to the Pennsylvania Department of State,as being duly authorized officers of the JW Cong? Being that the Cong, have not voted them in as Cong. President, Secretary and Treasurer, for which latter officers, Pennsylvania Law requires a Congregational VOTE?
A further Enigma :Is the Watch Tower Society committing a crime by instructing its "appointees", its Elders ,to assume to themselves the titles such as President,Secretary and Treasurer of the incorporated JW Cong.,when those such Elders have not been lawfully voted in by the incorporated Cong.Membership? But by Elder vote only?
In closeing, on a lighter note can you recall being notified by the Secretary to attend the G.A.M.for the election of officers in accordance with the law ?
Uhm, every congregation I have been in has conducted their "Annual Corporation Meeting". Its held once a year, announced ahead of time, usually held immediately following the School and Service meeting. At each meeting, from one to three corporate officers are elected. All active members of the congregation that are present vote, not just elders. They usually are elders or ministerial servants, and of course the vote is unanimous.
I have to wonder if some of you ever really paid attention to what went on at the Kingdom Hall, this is a total non-issue.

has anybody been watching this season's shows with the new menace, the ori?.
daniel and vala have been saved from the fanatical ori followers, but because their savior is an ori priest and they're still trapped in "borrowed" bodies in a distant galaxy they're not exactly home-free.
instead, the priest transports them to the ori's holy realm of celestis, where daniel begins to uncover the secrets of the mysterious gods.. .
Damn they got to you too Elsewhere?!?!?!?
Hallowed are the Ori!!!!
ok why don't the image link worky??

in the final installment of my story, i am done with my local congregation now.
in the past month, i have been df'd, un-df'd attended a meeting where i shook everyones hand and smiled ... and now i have sent everyone in the hall this letter, roughly 60 addresses:.
open letter to the north congregation of jehovahs witnesses.
There is no need to DF you, you have DA'd yourself with that letter.
Horefully though, it will cause any readers to stop and think about where their children are and who they are with.

what are your favorite sci fi movies or books.. mine.. asimov's foundation series.
clarke's childhoods end.. the day the earth stood still.
close encounters.
Most of my favorites have already been mentioned...Asimov...the Dune series, Clarke has some excellent works(Childhood's End, 2001), some not so great(Rama, 3001). I also enjoyed Julian May's Pliocene/Galactic Milieu series.
No one has mentioned David Brin, the Uplift series is awesome. Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle... Another newer writer is Peter Hamilton, look for his Reality Dysfunction/Neutronium Alchemist/Naked God series(not sure what the correct name for the whole series is). I also recently started reading Stephen Baxter, a great hard SF writer in the Clarke tradition.
Movies: Wrath of Khan never gets old, original SW trilogy. anyone remember Silent Running?
Television series Star Trek(of course) TOS, TNG, DS9. I watched Voyager and Enterprise more out of Pavlovian response to the Trek name than anything else. Babylon 5 was entertaining, sometimes incredible, sometimes dreadful. Stargate SG-1 is entertaining in a guilty pleasure kind of way, starting to get a little past its sell date, although Ben Browder is at least some fresh blood. The new Battlestar Galactica is one of the best SF shows ever: no time travel, no transporters, no holodecks, no technobabble. 3-dimensional characters. I expect it to be cancelled at any moment.

hey ya'll, t was announced this morning at the breakfast table that there are two new members of the governing body.
they were formerly "helpers" or "given ones.
" anthony morris raised a family and then went into the traveling work.
To be one of the "young" annointed you have to be mentally ill.
Or.....you could be a young JW guy aiming to climb the Watchtower Corporate Ladder, realizing that to go all the way to the top, there is one thing you absolutely need to have...
Just a thought... I'm sure no loyal JW brother could be this cynical.

Once again much excitement over something not that earth-shattering. I will bet a buck that both these guys are 'anointed' and have professed to be such for many years.
Actually I think one or two of the other recent appointments(Sam Herd?) have also been anointed ones already serving as Nethinim 'helpers'. So nothing too surprising there.
Now of course, new GB members is a rare event, as the remaining members all continue to fade away. And if indeed either of these two are not anointed, why yes, that would be a major shift in the leadership, bigger even than when all the GB resigned from the various corporations several years ago.
But I really doubt they are not anointed.
